Dr. Bassem Awad
Dr. Awad, a specialist in intellectual property, is a Judge at the Appeal Court of Egypt and a Counselor at the Judicial Department of Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates. He also works as an Adjunct Faculty at Western law school in Canada and as a Tutor for the Academy of the World Intellectual Property Organization [WIPO]. He has been working for several years as a Consultant for the African Union [AU] on Intellectual Property themes.Awad holds Ph.D. and LL.M degrees in Intellectual Property from the University of Montpellier in France, and an LL.M in International Business Law from University of Paris I (Panthéon-Sorbonne). He was a member of the Egypt Country Team for the African Copyright and Access to Knowledge (ACA2K) project from 2007 to 2010, and co-author of the ACA2K Egypt Country Report. Dr. Awad is affiliated with the Access to Knowledge for Development Center (A2K4D) at American University in Cairo (AUC) and is member of the Editorial International Committee of Revue “Cahiers de Propriété Intellectuelle”, Québec.
