Ofonmbuk Esther Ekong holds a Masters of Laws from the University of Benin, a Masters in Public Administration from Delta State University, a Bachelor of Laws, from Nigerian Law School and Ahmadu Bello University, as well as a Diploma in Journalism from Ahmadu Bello University, Nigeria.

Ekong has been a research fellow at the Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (NIALS) since 2012 and previously worked as a lawyer and Assistant Head of Chamber for a law firm in Nigeria. Presently, she is a resource person for the CopyrightX Course, NIALS’ coordinator of Creative Commons Nigeria. She also has extensive prior experience working with SMEs in Nigeria and is conducting research for the Open AIR case study, “Open Source Strategies at Nigeria’s Software Hubs”.
