Elsabe Gelderblom graduated from Stellenbosch University with majors in Design and Photography. She started her own design and marketing consultancy, Farm Design, in 1981. She was involved in the struggle for a democratic South Africa and served on the Executive Committee of the Federation of South African Woman (FEDSAW) from 1987 to 1990.
Gelderblom has extensive experience in design, advertising and publishing, with a particular interest in electronic publication. Recent clients include South Africa’s Human Sciences Research Council (HSRC), HSRC Press, UNICEF South Africa, Nasou Via Africa, Research Africa, Redefine Properties, the Cape Town International Convention Centre, Scholarly Communications in Africa Programme (SCAP).
Gelderblom has received a Loerie Award for design in South Africa, and the Clio Gold Award and Communications Arts Annual Award of Excellence in the US. She joined Open AIR in 2012, and is responsible for all design elements of the network’s communications and outreach, including its logo, website, books, briefing notes, brochures, flyers and other communications materials.
