About this Study

There are a variety of digital tech hubs in South Africa. This study will review multiple hubs in different places and of different socio-economic statuses, to explore their reasons for success – focusing on the hub’s scientists, entrepreneurs, tech-involved young people, and innovation managers.

This research will seek to:

  1. Explore reasons for innovation-focused success (and failure),
  2. Test the theory of innovation entanglement (innovation-focused behaviour’s relationship with tech hub evolution) in a wide setting. This theory can provide a sound foundation for innovation strategy in digital tech hubs, potentially making their success less precarious.
